EDNOS are a series of eating disorders that share certain symptoms of established eating disorders, yet not all of the known symptoms of a particular eating disorder.  Because of this EDNOS are hard to categorize.  An example of of EDNOS is that all the signs of Anorexia Nervosa are met except that, despite substantial weight loss, the individual’s current weight is in the normal range or all of the criteria for Bulimia Nervosa are met except binges occur at a frequency of less than twice a week or for a duration of less than 3 months.  Because EDNOS is hard to catch one must be very aware if they suspect a person is developing an eating disorder.

Caroline was a great friend.  She and I had been through so much together.  We did everything together.  We were straight A students and cheerleaders (I know that sounds impossible) and we even descended into the depths of eating disorders together.  The thing is only one of us made it back up.  I will always miss Caroline.

There are time when it surfaces draggin me with it and there are times when it is dormant and asleep.  My life is a constant battle.

Most people think that when someone has an eating disorder they are going to look like Kate Moss.  Although this is true in many people, it just isn’t the definition of an eating disorder. An eating disorder is essentially a distortion of the relationship between food and body.  This distortion can manifest itself in a variety of ways: anorexia, bulimia, over eating, and more.

Its not something you think about, but as more and more people find themselves entranced at the computer at night either doing work or self medicating themselves using entertainment, the need to eat undoubtedly arises.  Night eating disorder is for real and is a huge contributor to obesity.  Night eating disorder causes the sufferer to eat most of his or her calories at night often causing them to skip breakfast.  Although it is disturbing and traumatizing night eating disorder doesn’t directly cause death, yet can contribute to over all disintegration of the person’s health.

It’s hard to explain to people the urge to purge. It’s not an overriding feeling, but rather something subtle and insidious. For me it’s as if it has always been there and no matter the strides I make with bulimia, I feel like it is not going away.
